Payroll is the system for paying your staff for services rendered. Each employee is paid through a standard process that involves:
- Collecting data like basic salary, hours worked, bonuses or commissions earned
- Inputting data to calculate payments and taxable deductions
- Reporting payments and deductions to each employee, and to HM Revenues & Customs
- Maintaining records of all payments and deductions for a period of three years
